John F. Youngblood has been with Abbott, Nicholson, Quilter, Esshaki & Youngblood, P.C. since 1979, after six years as a partner in the law firm of Cox and Youngblood.  John is the Leader of the Auto Dealership Section and a member of the Corporate and Labor Sections.  John lives in the Metropolitan Detroit area, is married and has three grown daughters, one of whom is an attorney in Cleveland.  Coincidentally, one of his sons in law is a partner in Nissan and Volkswagen dealerships in the Boston area.  His primary practice areas include automotive franchises, the laws and regulations governing the operation of vehicle dealerships, and employment law.  John received both his B.S. in 1969 and his law degree (J.D.) in 1972 from Wayne State University.

From 1993-1996, John was a member of the Board of Directors of Commercial Law Affiliates, a prestigious international affiliation of law firms now known as Meritas.  John serves as general counsel to several regional automobile dealer advertising associations and frequently gives presentations to industry groups and other professionals on various topics, including laws affecting the retail automobile industry.  He was twice elected to serve on the City Council for the City of Grosse Pointe and has served on the Board of Directors of a number of charitable and civic organizations.

John holds an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded attorneys by their peers. He has been honored as a Michigan Super Lawyer every year since 2008 in the franchise/dealership category. In 2009 and 2010 John was also recognized as a Top Lawyer in Metro Detroit by DBusiness Magazine.
