John R. Nicholson was a founding member of the law firm of Abbott, Nicholson, Quilter, Esshaki & Youngblood, P.C. in 1977. His primary practice areas include Business Planning, Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Estate Planning. John lives in Grosse Pointe Farms, is married and has three grown children and two grandchildren. John received his B.A. from Brown University in 1963 and his law degree (J.D.) from Wayne State University Law School in 1966. He has extensive experience and expertise in business planning, mergers and acquisitions and estate planning.
John wrote "Multiple Benefits of a Computerized Inventory System" and "Legal Administrators - Helping Lawyers Manage," which were published in the Michigan Bar Journal. John was President of Grosse Pointe Cable, Inc. (GPC) from 1992 to 1995 and negotiated the sale of GPC to Comcast in 1995. He served as the Village Clerk of Grosse Pointe Shores and as a member of the Board of Tax Review for a number of years. John is an active member of Christ Church, Grosse Pointe (past senior warden), as well as vice chairman and board member of the Fellowship of Christians in University and Schools (past chairman of the board). John has been a member of the Ecclesiastical Court for the Diocese of Michigan since 1995. John is also President of the Leslie L. Squires Foundation, Bay City, Michigan.
John holds an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded attorneys by their peers.
